It was okay. We were in the very back row. Some of it was in 3D. The 3D kind of hurt my eyes and was hard to focus on. There was some action, a solid if simple plot, a few good jokes, and one of the best SuperVillian performances I have ever seen (and I was very taken by Willem DaFoe in Spiderman).

Kevin Spacey was fun and totally over the top while still remaining somewhat beleivable. I heart Lex Luthor anyway...he has such wonderful insane vision. Plus he's really really rich.

Brandon Routh was pretty good as the man-of-strong-shiny-metal. Of course it would be difficult to be a less remarkable actor than the hunky Tom Welling who is the main SuperPerson I've been watching lately.
I thought they took some liberties with the material, but in truth, I don't know the material nearly well enough to make that call. The cast in general was fine, and Singer's direction was fine. All in all though, it drags near the end and was ultimately unremarkable considering we already have 2 perfectly good Superman movies you could rent right now on DVD.

So I'll ask you. Why did we need another Superman movie?
By which I mean, what specifically (beside Kevin Spacey) about THIS Superman movie made it worth the making.

The movie crowd was good though, nobody being inappropriately loud or obnoxious.
That almost never happens.

Good News!

In the interest of "not giving up" I stayed up all night and finished Chapter Twelve of my latest novel about chubby, delightful Hazel and her wacky adventures. The phrase wacky adventures, BTW, is used sarcastically because she is not very wacky and only occasionally adventurous. I daresay though, that she is a compelling read (especially) if you are interested in knowing how chicks think and reading stereotypically sucky men ;-}.

What's that? You can't see the chapter?
Well that is a puzzlement, isn't it?

Because if you avail yourself of the opportunity to join my writing comm proper, you can see all the stuff I currently shield (but do not Yarnell) from the rest of the world.

And if this sounds like a shamless plug to you, you must be new around here.
I do this all the time.

Many thanks to userinfoliadra for hipping me to This Hilarious Video Clip which is sure to be enjoyable to anyone who likes cats, apple computers, laptops or stuff that is funny.

In other news, Group was surprisingly tame and enjoyable tonight. Back to the doc tomorrow, and then some EMDR, which will surely be exhausting.

I'm in the mood to write a short horror story. I think I will do that this week.
Turns out, I'm not going to do the JulNoWriMo next month after all. I was thinking that it was WIP friendly, like the WriYear, but it's really not. It's more like regular NaNo in that they want you to start fresh. Since I'm still writing Hazel and editing Franklin, I can't really do anything like that yet. I'll have to wait for November for the meanningless word count obsession to begin.

Once in awhile I plug other people's journals because I find them insightful, informative, or enjoyable. I've encountered one of these woefully underapprecated journals under the name of userinfoalex_a_polukhin. He posts lots of wonderful photos (pretty much all as clickable thumbnails) of his own, or those that he enjoys. Most are taken in Russia, (if we're still calling it that, I'm embrassed to say I don't know) and many are damn impressive. So do avail yourself of his fine photography journal.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my favorite thing about Superman Returns. )
...and I only knew that because of The Simpsons.
